Raised in Amherst, Massachusetts, Ms. Vanin joined Success Academy in 2012 as a founding second grade teacher at SA Bed-Stuy 1, where she spent an additional three years teaching third grade. As a grade team leader, Ms. Vanin guided teachers through coaching and modeling best practices to improve teacher performance. In 2016, she became the assistant principal of SA Bed-Stuy 1, and in 2017, she transitioned to the role of principal of SA Harlem 4. Prior to joining Success Academy, Ms. Vanin completed her master’s degree in special education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. During that time, she worked in the Holyoke Public Schools using the Curricular Frameworks for Massachusetts, a framework designed to increase the persistence and achievement of at-risk middle and high school students. Ms. Vanin holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Northeastern University, where she attended on a full basketball scholarship. She played four years of professional basketball in both Puerto Rico and Italy, and in her spare time, she loves exercising, traveling, and baking!
