The SA Young Professionals Committee (“YPC”) is a dedicated group of emerging young leaders in New York City who are ambassadors of Success Academy and advocates of education reform. Throughout the year, the committee hosts social and fundraising events to build a network of champions to support Success Academy’s college-bound scholars.

In 2015 the Young Professionals Committee established The Launch Fund to provide financial support — including assistance in covering unforeseen costs — to SA seniors and alumni as they navigate higher education, from the transition to college to graduation.
For many high school graduates — especially first generation college students from low-income households — the transition between high school and college is the most challenging step in their journey. Across the country, researchers have shed light on a deterrent to college that occurs during the summer between high school and college, coined the “summer melt.” Up to 40% of students who have been accepted to college fail to show up in the fall after their high school graduation, as critical start-up costs including textbooks, transportation to campus, dorm supplies, etc. are prohibitively overwhelming.
All proceeds raised from the Young Professionals Committee events directly support The Launch Fund.
